Diversity
Using technology in education today is a great way to differentiate instruction for the students. Teachers use instructional programs to provide supports for students to work toward standards mastery. It is important that teachers understand how to utilize digital tools to create activities for their students. As education continues to change, the one thing that continues to change is the implementation of technology in the classroom. The more technology is integrated into the curriculum, it increases the need to purchase more technology for school systems.
I gained knowledge throughout the entire technology program that prepared me to mentor other teachers on how to integrate 21st century education into their curriculum. Teachers need to understand that not only can technology help change students’ learning trends, but it can also make things a lot easier on them as well when finding work appropriate for each student. With the resources that most teachers have available, they can teach students how to be successful with digital tools.
There have been a variety of activities that I have participated in to demonstrate my ability to address diversity in education today:
- Mentored and coached a third grade teacher on how to use instructional technology programs in her curriculum.
- Coached teachers in grades Kindergarten through Fifth Grade, through professional development sessions, on three instructional programs that North LaFayette has purchased. These teachers were coached on how to integrate these programs into their lessons, routines, and projects. These teachers were taught how to make their students’ learning individualized for their needs.
- Attended the GaETC conference in Atlanta
- Presented a writing workshop at the Walker County Technology Fair on the following programs: Popple365, Popplet, and StoryJumper.
- Completed a field experience and lesson plan for supporting ESOL students in working toward personal goals for the student.
- Examined school improvement plans and created the SWOT analysis to create an action plan for technology integration at North LaFayette.
- Developed a presentation for administrators using the SIP (School Improvement Plan) based on the student data, including demographics.
- Researched and recommended digital tools and resources to meet the needs of students on an individualized basis.
- Worked with a student using assistive technology to help work toward reaching her individualized learning goals.
