Artifact: SWOT ANALYSIS
Reflection:
The strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis was developed during the ITEC 7410 course in the Instructional Technology Educational Specialist program. This analysis allowed me to evaluate the current implementation of technology for our district. By using our school’s improvement plan I was able to look at how we use technology in our district. I was able to see the strengths and weaknesses that we have, as well as see areas in which we need to do some improvements for the weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
Standard 4.1, Digital Equity, is developed for candidates to model and promote strategies for achieving equitable access to digital tools and resources and technology-related best practices for all students and teachers. Througout this artifact, I was able to promote strategies for using technology in our school. I was also able to see the strengths and weaknesses that our school has for allowing access to digital tools and resources. After seeing these strengths and weaknesses, I was able to suggest technology-related best practices that could be used to improve our overall technology usage in the school.
I learned a lot through the completion of this project. I was able to make suggestions on how to improve our technology usage at NLE, and these suggestions have since then been taken to our technology team for approval. Our technology team is currently looking for ways to implement these strategies in the most effective way. The only thing that I would have changed about this assignment is that I would have liked to have discuss these issues and concerns (weaknesses) with our county technology team and been provided feedback that would have helped me with the development of the strategies needed. I really would like our county to stay up-to-date with the technology usage so that we can continue to move forward with the times.
The impact of this analysis can be assessed by giving a post-survey to teachers after implementation of some of the strategies into our school improvement. Professional development is planned to take place throughout our weekly PLC meetings, as well as after school training if necessary in order to make these strategies a success at NLE. In completing this assignment, I was able to become more aware of what we need to work toward in the upcoming years, and I hope to bring that knowledge to more teachers in order to have a team working toward these goals.
