Artifact: ITEC CONFERENCE 2018
Reflection:
This artifact is a copy of the receipt that I had from paying for the ITEC Conference in 2018. At the beginning of this journey, our mentor, who had also been through this program at Kennesaw State, encouraged us that if we did anything extra throughout this program then we needed to attend the GaETC Conference. I was dreading going at first, and amazingly enough it was by far one of the best experiences of my teaching career. This conference is held each November in Atlanta, Georgia. It is a conference that focuses on instructional technology usage in education.
Standard 6.1, Continuous Learning, allows the candidates to demonstrate continual growth in knowledge and skills of current and emerging technologies and apply them to improve personal productivity and professional practice. Attending this conference allowed demonstration of continual growth and skills of current and emerging technologies. I was able to come back to North LaFayette and teach others how to apply them to improve personal productivity and professional practice. Specifically, I was able to bring back technology integration ideas, and programs and device ideas for our media center.
I could talk about this conference for hours, and I try to be an advocate for teachers around our district who may be on the fence about attending. I learned so many great technologies, applications, and ways to intregrate these into the classroom setting. Also, I was able to get excited and interested in updating our own media center. If I had to change anything about this field experience, I would attend the conference sooner so that I could have been as excited about beginning this program at KSU.
This conference allowed professional development opportunities when I returned. I was able to show some applications to teachers that might use them in their classroom. I was also able to get with the librarian and discuss some changes that could be made when moving forward. The impact of this artifact can be assessed by a post survey for teachers on the applications that I presented to them. Also, a post survey filled out by myself about the different things that I was able to learn about at the conference.
