ITEC 7460 was my favorite class so far! It was a class where I was able to learn more about technology integration in the classroom, as well as provide professional learning for other teachers in our school and county. We saw a need for the writing instruction in our school, therefore, my colleagues and I completed an after school workshop for teachers to focus on using technology while teaching Writing. Our Academic Coach was so impressed by our workshop that she told the county Technology Director about it, and he asked us to present this workshop again at a county-wide technology fair that was held in January. We were so very proud to be able to showcase our knowledge on this topic for our county teachers. Another assignment that I enjoyed was the coaching journals. I was able to coach a first year teacher on how to use instructional programs that we have at North LaFayette. This is also what my Capstone project will be about, so it helped me get a good start on what all I will need to include. Not only was I excited to teach someone else, but she was very eager to learn, and very appreciative of the support that I was able to give to her.
Throughout this course, I was able to gain a confidence in myself with technology integration. I was able to believe that I really could be successful as an Instructional Technology Coach, and that I would be prepared to take on a role of that magnitude if it were offered. I feel like this course helped me be able to take on the first role as a leader by coaching and providing professional learning opportunities to others. It made me feel good that people actually showed up to our workshop, and then some even came back to see the second edition at the county technology fair. I feel like I am growing more each semester as a technology leader in my KSU classes as well as at North LaFayette.
