4.2 Safe, Healthy, Legal, & Ethical Use

Artifact: COPYRIGHT ASSIGNMENT
Reflection:
This artifact was completed in the ITEC 7445 course of the Specialist’s program of Instructional Technology at Kennesaw State. When completing this project, I was able to give information to others on the importance of Copyright. This was one of my favorite early assignments because of the importance. Most people do not realize the importance of this topic, but if you use technology a lot then you need to know the facts about it. I created a Powerpoint presentation on what Copyright is, the factors explaining it, different scenarios when it is to be used, etc. This would be a great resource to use at a grade level meeting, or a faculty meeting even, when discussing safe, healthy, legal, and ethical use of technology.
Standard 4.2, Safe, Healthy, Legal, & Ethical Use, is developed for candidates to model and facilitate the safe, healthy, legal, and ethical uses of digital information and technologies. Through completing this assignment, I was able to use information that I had, and fun memes that people would enjoy, to create a Powerpoint presentation about the importance of Copyright. I was able to give specific scenarios about safe, healthy, legal and ethical uses of digital technologies.
I learned a lot from completing this project. It is surprising the information that you did not know about the ethical uses of technology. I hope to use this resource to teach other educators about the importance of this topic. When using technology in the classroom, it is important to know what is right and wrong. If I had to change anything about this Powerpoint, I would have shown my administration and my academic coach sooner so that this could be used to train teachers. I am also going to make sure that I put this information on the Weebly page that I created for new teachers for my capstone project.
This project is great for teacher professional learning, participation, and collaboration. I would love people to provide feedback and even add more information to this that teachers need to know. The impact of this assignment can be assessed by a post-survey following implementation of training. After using this in a faculty meeting or PLC meeting, then give teachers a short survey to fill out about the impact that it has made.
